What is a naturopathic physician?
Please view our Naturopathy page.
Are Naturopathic doctors licensed?
Yes, as long as they have passed the state licensing
exam and are practicing in a state that licenses and regulates the practice of naturopathic medicine. Currently, the
states that license naturopaths are Washington, Oregon, Alaska, California, Arizona, Montana, Connecticut, New Hamshire and Vermont.
The scope of practice including prescriptive rights will vary state-to-state. In licensed states, Naturopaths
practice as primary care physicians, as do MD‘s, but typically with more restrictions on their scope of practice.
Are you covered by insurance?
That depends. If your policy covers naturopathic medicine
then visits should be covered. Dr. MacPherson is currently contracted with Regence Blue Shield and Premera Blue Cross
of Washington. If you see Dr. MacPherson and you have one of these policies, then your services will be billed by the
clinic to your insurance company. You will only be responsible for a co-pay if you have one.
Regardless of the insurance company or type of policy you have, it is always your responsibility to read your
policy or contact the insurance company to determine what your coverage is. You are ultimately responsible for the cost
of a service that has been provided to you. Your policy is an agreement between you and your insurance company.
There are many other insurance plans that will cover all or part of your visits, but again you ultimately must research your
particular coverage.
If you have an insurance plan from a company other that Regence or Premera you will be expected to pay at
the time of your service. We will then be happy to submit the charges to your insurance company so that you can receive
whatever reimbursement they are willing to pay.
Currently, Dr. Glasser is not a provider with insurance companies so payment is expected at the time of service,
then if you request it, we will submit the charges to your insurance company. It is also important to be aware, that
typically, no nutritional or herbal supplements are covered by insurance, just as over the counter medicines are not covered.
Does Medicare cover your Services?
No. They do not yet recognize Naturopathic physicians
on a national scale.
Do you take credit cards?
Yes, we currently accept VISA, Mastercard, and Discover card
for payment.
Do you have a payment plan?
The policy is that payment for services rendered be paid at
the time of the service. In certain situations, based on financial hardship, we will consider a fee reduction and will
split the fee into two payments with the first half due at time of the visit. No exceptions are made for supplements,
lab tests (that are not covered by insurance) or other medical supplies, these must be paid before leaving the clinic.
Remember, we do accept credit cards for your convenience. We hope you understand that we are not a lending institution
but rather a provider of healthcare; therefore it is your responsibility to pay for the service and products you receive,
when you receive them, as with any other transactions you engage in.
Do you sell nutritional supplements?
Yes we maintain a comprehensive dispensary or what
we like to call our natural pharmacy. This allows us to scrutinize and monitor the quality of the products we prescribe
to our patients. This also provides convenience for our patients. Most of the products we carry are from companies
that only sell through doctors. Most of the products are formulated by doctors and are of superior quality. The
majority of these supplements are not found in health food stores. Please see Natural Pharmacy for more details.
Do you work with other doctors?
Yes, we both refer to and get referrals from other doctors
such as MD’s, DO’s, DC’s, LAc’s, etc. We are happy to work in conjunction with your existing doctor
or any health practitioner that you wish to work with. There are times when medical specialists with advanced training
in a certain discipline may be needed to help in either the diagnosis or the treatment of one’s condition.
Do you treat both chronic and acute conditions?
Yes. Most conditions can respond
well to the correct natural remedy or treatment. Though much emphasis at this clinic is on chronic conditions we also
treat acute conditions such as sore throats, coughs, colds, flu, earaches, headaches, urinary tract infections, sprains and
strains, etc. We do not provide emergency, trauma or crises medicine.
What are your hours?
The clinic is open Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Depending on the clinician’s availability, sometimes earlier or later appointments can be arranged. We may be
closed during lunch typically between 12:30 and 2:00.
